Unless your squeamish about who works on your truck check out the Automotive services on CraigsList in your area. Visit a couple of ad placers and you could find someone you like and who is reasonably priced.

Obviously they dude working out of his gravel driveway with 2 rusted out, non-running gremlins that only does oil changes might not be the best choice. LOL

Haha true. I'm shopping around, the place I normally go to wants to to my evaporator and something else I cant remember while their back there. It tacks on $200 to the total bill.
And as for bypassing it hah. I'd love to but MI is finally getting winter and decent snow. Plus my passengers already complain about being cold with tthe windows cracked to vent the moisture

Don't use a credit card, thats how people get into big time debt. It sounds like you just don't have a lot of time. Honestly if you take it to a dealer (at least around here) they will have your truck in the garage longer than you could fix it.

Really if you did some research and got a plan from the get go. Had about two or three friends to help. I could see this taking around 2-4 hours for someone whos never done it.

But its your call, good luck with it.

Thats what I was gonna say. Winter is almost over, and you could probably survive with a little 12volt heater until you can DIY.

well if you want to replace your most likely cracked dash at the same time you can do them both in about 30 minutes each.
yesterday I dropped the steering onto the seat and rolled the dash forward and began unscrewing the top of the dash (there are screws on the back side of this part). long story short once I got it out in the same number of pieces as it was in before and handed it to a friend it was crushed in his hands like a dorito. well after laughing about that I laid down under the dash and unscrewed the defrost vents to get those out of the way, then took out the airbag. now there were only 3 screws holding it in and the hoses on the outside left. we also found a hack saw was needed to speed up the removal process as the stock brass pipes didn't want to come out. the new one went in with a bit of twisting and curses. with two people we had it working and back together in roughly 30 minutes. sans dash top which is $329 at plastic parts inc. btw and is currently on its way to me. with two people working on that I figure it will take another 30 minutes to have in.
