Engine won't start after changing the tranny. Was running fine.
The transmission went out in my dads 98 Dodge Ram 1500 2wd 5.9L truck and he changed the tranny out with one out of a 99. It wouldn't start and we realized that we crushed the wire going to the crankshaft position sensor. Before that though, I pulled the ignition 2 fuse and my dad accidentally put it in a spare slot. Changed that out and the truck fired right up. He drove it over 100 miles without an issue, then he was going to work and it flat died going down the road. Refused to start at all.
I checked the codes and came up with P0122 and P0505. TPS and the IAC. Changed both of those out and still nothing. Now it still refuses to start and we have no voltage to the crankshaft position sensor, the camshaft position sensor, the fuel injectors, or the coil. Thinking that it's the auto shutdown relay, but we can't figure out what would be causing it to malfunction. Also, this truck is equipped with the anti theft system.
Now my questions are, is there something in the transmission that would **** off the auto shutdown relay or the anti theft system? Can yall think of anything?

Check the fuse pannel under the hood, check the red 50 amp fuse that controls alot of the things you mentiond along with the white fuse that's connected between the positive and negative line, if that's blown it wont let any of your major componet's turn on.
All of the fuses check out fine. Used an ohm meter to be sure.
when you pinched the wire you could have possibly shorted something out in the wiring harness or the computer. i have no idea man i would consider going to a wiring specialist and see if you shorted something out.
That white fuse connects two positives. One is red and the other is black with a white line = positive.
close enough

I don't see how the computer could have shorted out. We fixed it at 9PM that night, drove it 20 miles, let it sit overnight. My dad drove it to work the next morning, well over 100 miles. He let it sit overnight, it started right up in the morning, he got a mile down the road and it died. Can't see the computer lasting that long.
It could be an on going thing though, when you crushed those wires it could have shorted out there and tacked back up through the wiring harness shorting out wire after wire, thats why you REALLY have to be careful when working around wires on these trucks/cars now adays, it's not like oldschool where you can drop an engine an a tranny in a truck and have it all back togeather an running with in a hour, i feel your pain i really do man i hate wiring and i wish i had grew up in the 60's and 70's where carb's ruled but now it's way too complicated
