I was just curious if anyone could tell me if I can use vasaline as a trans assembly lube. I've been reading various threads on various forums stating that you can. I just needed someone to verify.

 

Yeah, it will work, just not the most preferred assembly lube...

 

So just don't use more then needed? I just looked over the FSM and they mentioned petroleum jelly.

 

Why not go get some asseblee goo. Thats what I used and it worked great. It is specifically for transmissions.

 

Just looking at my options. That's all. Also, the FSM mentioned petroleum jelly as stated above.

 

I know when i did my transgo shift kit on my nova , it said to use vasaline to hold the little ball bearings in place in the plate holes, then my tranny took a ****, lol no joke, about 500 miles later ,i had stock turbo 350 tranny 2800 10inch b&m TC and a punched out 350 to 355 with wild cam ,port polish heads from AFR, AFR intake and 650 ROAD demon carb, yeah stock tranny couldnt hold up,SOLD IT YEARS AGO
