That's actually a bar that I made and then bolted to the front of the bed. I did a post awhile back in the "What did you do..." thread about it. Here's a pic of the bar before I sent it out for powdercoating.

It's made of some heavy wall rectangular tubing, flat steel and some solid rings that I cut in half for tie down hook points.

Krylon has a fan spray tip that you can rotate for a vertical or horizontal spray. Rustoleum is crap in my book because I had 4 different cans splooge out around the neck of the nozzle and screw up what I was painting, so I had to wipe it off while it was still wet and try again.

If for some reason down the road you decide to get rid of the bed mat all together it may be harder to match what you have later down the road (because of sun fade). You might also want to look for some type of UV coating (I heard people doing it over herculiner) to help keep it black instead of fading.
My Herculiner looks like a dry lake bed because I didn't use the UV protection. The UV protection is to keep it shiney and to keep it from cracking/shrinking in the sun. I was under the impression that it was just to keep it shiney so I didn't use it because I don't mine the inside of the bed fading.

I do like the grip of the Herculiner though, it feels like walking on coarse sandpaper. I can set a gas can in any corner of the bed and go for a 40 mile drive and when I get there it will still be in the exact same spot.
