Default Can this be the starter or something to do with my trans

As I mentioned before I just bought a 94 RAM. I've noticed that when the truck is cold it won't start. It usually takes about 5-8 tries. However, when I turn it off and try to re-start it, the truck starts up just fine. I know that the previous owner just put in a new transmission on the truck. I have the invoice with me. Do you guys think it might be the starter or something with the transmission to being set in park correctly. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

I'm trying to find a Starter Solenoid kit that I can try to change but non of my local auto parts places carry such kit. They want me to buy the entire starter .

I'll check the batt. in the mean time to make sure that's not the problem.

Funny you mentioned your stall propblem. I just put in a new starter and now the truck is stalling. I went to get gas and when started up the truck in the gas station it stalled. I had to rev. up the engine to put it into drive. I took the back roads home and it stalled a 3-4 times. I'm hoping that it may be the injector cleaner I added last night. The starter seems to be working fine...really weird...

stalling when the truck is near idle is most likely a dirty throttle body, take it off and clean the IAC valve on the back of the TB. make sure the air passages are also clean. Stalling while on the gas (while driving), could be the fuel pump or something electrical, check your codes.

Thanks I'll try that. I've added one of fuel injector cleaners to the tank. Do you think that actually did more harm than good. Just trying to learn for the next time.

I doubt the injector cleaner is causing your problem.

Thanks for the help. Cleaned the TB and IAC valve and the truck seems to be working much better. The RPMs still drop below idle when I get off the gas but it recovers and it doesn't stall. I think I might just buy a new IAC valve or do you have any other suggestions. Maybe I can try a different type of cleaner. What do you recommend. Thanks again for the help.
