Ticking clicking sound while crusing.
1996 dodge ram 5.2 318. Mopar performance computer. I run 93 octane. Just recently i have noticed a clicking or a ticking sound while at cruise speeds 45-55 mph. Doesn't appear to make the sound when idling or in neutral revving. Cant hear anything with the hood open either. Just when im in the cab and at cruise speeds. Plugs wires about 6 months old. Can anyone give me any clues on what it may be?

+1 on the pcv valve....
I had the same clicking noise for a couple months before I found that it was comin from the pcv valve, on passenger side valve cover... 5 bucks later, my clicking was gone

^ I never considered an exhaust leak, but now that you mention it, it's possible. My dad's ol 96 Dakota developed an exhaust leak right at one of the manifolds, he drove it like that for a while, and it ticked like that so bad it sounded like a rocker arm was gonna come flyin out of the thing.....

It doesnt appear to make the sound when i am on the gas. Mainly just crusing at a steady rpm. Its a 2wd And just going in a straight line at cruise speeds. Sounds like coins in your pocket if you were running around. Sorry for the primitive example. But its definatly not knocking
