Default Lift Kit Budget? Any Ideas?

I am currently looking into a lift for my 95 1500 4x4. It sits pretty high for a stock susp. already but most others I see are lower. Not sure why.?.?.? My budget for a NEW lift kit is $1000 +/- but not sure which to go with. I hear Tuff Country is good, but I also hear Old man Emu is the way to go. I do alot of highway driving but when I go hunting, Fishing, and Rednecking, I go ALL THE WAY! Alot of mud, hills, and creeks. I'm running 265/75/16 Hankook and would like to keep them for winter and highway and not look like a bean pole. I have a set of 35" Mud countries on Black Cragar Softies I would like to use for said activities. Any body else have any ideas of what to do. I tried searching the forums and tapping into a few but no help yet. Thanks...

I would also like to add that I pull a camper occationaly that drops my rear leaves like a stone. Add-a-leaf maybe? I know it's a half ton but the camper doesn't have that much tongue weight.

I've had a rough country on my 01 1500 for 5 years now and no complaints. I don't tow often but I had 2000 lbs in the bed once and it didn't KILL it's stance too terrible. Suggestion for the budget issue is ebay. 4-5 inch kit with shocks and all hardware is alot cheaper than any shop or vendor.

In order to fit the 35s your 265s will make you look like a bean pole. You'll need to decide if you can live with it (and your screwed up gearing) or change your plans. There is a huge difference between those tire sizes especially when it comes to gearing.

Depending on how your 35s and other wheels fit you may be able to get buy with a 3" lift with minor fender adjustments in the front. If you go to a 5" then you'll look goofy with 265s. But then you'll have to use a drop to be able to pull your camper. I've not seen an OME kit for our trucks. It would be mild if there is one.

My suggestion is go to a 33" tire for winter and your 35s for summer. Change your gearing to 4.10 and put a 3" kit on it with spacers in front and aal in the rear.

I plan on doing this all in my garage, I've done a couple of lifts on Jeeps and Toyotas but never a full size. And I've never done Gearing to ANYTHING. How involved is it and is it worth it? I'd be OK settling for 33's, I don't want to buy another set of wheels and tires, So with a 3" and 265's it should be acceptable, may get a few laughs from the local yokals but oh well. As for how it sets now, It is taller than a few of the 4x4 95's I've seen around here but everything appears stock. I just hate trying to drag the diffs through the deep sticky stuff.

Oh and I didn't mention before but I don't like the idea of blocks in the rear, just doesn't seem right. I would have to invest in traction bars to keep away the axle wrap.

You can probably get by with 33s and not redoing your gearing. Unless you've got 3.55s and that might not be as nice while towing expecially in hills. And you can probably get by with them without putting a lift on. It all depends on your wheels and the tires you get. I've run 33s on the stock wheels where one set rubbed and another set didn't.

You already have blocks in the back. If you want to get rid of them, then you'll need to replace the entire spring pack.

Is there a way to tell, there is no leveling kit so it must be something... I would hate to think the new shocks I bought could be the wrong ones.

I really do not like the blocks, but the new spring packs I found are $550+. That's too rich for my blood. I can live with the ones that are on there but I don't want to add another set. Maybe an add-a-leaf? I also had a few questions about pinion angles. Is that easy to deal with?

Yeah, that's what I said.

If you look at the kit you picked out there are two goldish plates in the center of the picture. They actually look like blocks that you'd stack in the rear on top of your stock ones.

No, you won't have to worry about your pinion angles being wacky with a 3" lift.
