The bodies are the same, hence the truck has the same physical dimensions making the trucks the same size. The suspension is 2" taller and the frame is identical except between the cab and box the frame has a 9" section on the 2500 where the 1500 stays at 7".

the 2500 is heavier, 1500 can use alot of the 2500's suspenion parts also. 2500's are naturally higher than the 1500 so we can use their spring's to gain some extra height using the 2500's stock suspenion with minimal fab work, the front springs will fit with out any modding.
all the suspention parts will bolt up between the two, the 2500 frame is about 2in taller than the 1500 and a lot stronger

I only settled on the 1500 cause i couldnt find a 2500 that wasnt a long bed, and they seemed to be all diesel or the v10. I really wanted to stay with the 360 cause thats all i had in the past.

i would take a 2500 anyday over my 1500, mostly because i want a cummins, but stronger frames, bigger axles, more durable in my opinion, its all how you take care of it, but the options available in powertrain in the 2500 is better.

i havee a 1500 because i dont really need all the power of a diesel, and i got a really really good deal on my truck.
