Default Bad,Bad, News for this Ram Owner!!!!

Ran a compression test on the no. 8 cylinder today. 30psi!!! No. 6 was only 85psi, so I have a cracked head and some burnt valves more than likely. Our company mechanic is a dodge lover through and through, and he knows where he can score me a 360 with decent miles for $3-$400.00. Said he'd put it in for $300.00 So $600.00 later and my truck will have an upgrade from the 318 to the 360 and have a ton less miles than 235k on the motor. Way finances are I'll probably have to buy the motor this month, and have it put in next month. But he said i'm fine to drive it like it is if I don't care about the mis or bad fuel mileage.

He did tell me to try some liquid glass. Said it sure won't hurt and it could possibly cure the cracked head and eliminate my miss for a while. Will try that sometime this week!

Well that $2900 isnt looking like such a good deal after all. If i found that out i would rod the **** out of it and blow that sumbitch up! Not that i ever got pissed at it and held the gas pedal to floor for a minute or 2.

Default well no

I get to keep the 318, no core charge. So I will eventually build it up for some little hot rod or a spare motor. Or keep it just for parts. Would be a great thing to have out of a truck to do some diy's on.

Liquid glass? Sodium Silicate? Thats the same thing the government put in the Cash For Clunkers cars....You dont want that stuff in your engine.

^ its a liquid headgasket repair that you pour into the coolant. its probably safe or they wouldn't sell it.

cash for clunkers put the stuff in the oil, so it ate up the bearings, rings, cylinders, etc.
i'm still pissed off about that. all they did was eliminate a huge pile of perfectly good used cars for those who can't afford new.
