Default Engine Problems

I have a 1998 Ram 2500 with a 360 gasser. When I first got it at around 49k, the plenum gasket was out and the dealership fixed it under warranty. I have around 98k on it now, and its been using a fair amount of oil. I haven't seen smoke like the first time though. Also, I took off the filter on my cold air intake the other day and there was oil puddled in the bottom of the tube. Would this be the plenum issue? Is there any sort of a temporary fix to this problem?

yes, that's the plenum again. If dodge fixed it under warranty, they never really 'fixed' it, they reprogrammed your computer to detune the engine and stop the pinging. Search for 'death flash'...

^that's the temporary fix btw

Unless you have a hughes or APS Plenum kit, its going to leak again. You cannot just put a new gasket on, for it will leak again. There are 2 flaws in Chryslers design with the plenum causing them to leak. The Hughes or APS plenum kits totally eliminate plenum pretty much so you dont have to worry about it.

Also it is possible you now have the deathflash, and after you fix the plenum the real way, you still may find power loss. You will need a tuner to get rid of the deathflash.

Well I have a superchip for it so I don't think I have the death flash, but is this what is causing the pinging in the engine?

The dealer didnt fix the plenum, so 100% its leaking, and since you have a SCT, thats eliminated the deathflash thus bringing back the pinging, so yes its from the plenum.
