Front Axle Seals... CAD?
I would like to take this time now to Laugh at my own stupidity! HAAAAHAHAHAHA. Join in with me. The intermediate shaft was still in the carrier about a fraction of a mm. Tapped it back into the bearings, slid the shaft all the way out, whalla. Now for the seal install tool. Lowes hardware section that is. Thanks Sheriff and all others. Keep all four movin, but not neccesarily on the ground.
I might have missed something about the u joints in the front axles, IIRC my clips are on the back and a letter C shape, sorry if im totaly off here. I'll be looking over these threads a little my pass side has small leak and the driver's side was already done.
If it helps, I found it easier to leave the hub nut and remove the hub and axle as an assembly, that way it can be done on the bench. It seems like you don't have to remove the carrier to do the passenger side, I may be wrong but, the 4 wheel acctuator is the access to that seal. USE PENETRANT ON THE BOLTS! I snapped one off but luckily had enough to grab on to with a pair of vise grips. Now all I need is the seal install tool, which I've heard can be made from some all-thread and some washers. will post pics once I have that figured out.
That is why I said "all the way out".
Carry the new seal to lowes with you to be sure you get the right size washer. My washer was a hair smaller then it should have been, but I made it work.
Read through 95RAM360's thread before you install it, he's having a little trouble with the passenger seal and I'm trying to give him some ideas about getting that seal in there correctly, it can be a bit of a pain.

Right on. I thought it was, I pulled it out as far as it would let me but there must have been something stopping the final bit from moving. I cannot believe it was that easy, after all that cussin and pacing. Thanks again. I'll look for that thread.
This is the slide hammer. Any piece of heavy metal with a hole in it big enough for the threaded rod will work.

and this is that thread https://dodgeforum.com/forum/2nd-gen...axle-seal.html

Did you physically remove the intermediate shaft entirely from the axle housing, or did you leave it in and just push it enough to the passenger side to remove the carrier?
We haven't started prying on the carrier yet, but it seems like the intermediate shaft is still to far into the carrier to remove it.
Any thoughts?
