Is it possible for a ****ty battery to cause my truck to idle funny?

if the battery has an internal shortcut, anything can happen...

YES. low voltage screws up the reference signals of the sensors.

It could also be your alternator. Once started, a truck should be able to run with its accessories on without the battery connected. If not, then the alternator is probably bad.

so while its running should i try disconnecting the battery? and if so should i that the negative or positive off first or does it not matter lol
