Default Best way to do plenum?

After reading a bunch of threads on here, it seems I've got the same problems as a number of people who have fixed there's by replacing the plenum. I'm losing my low end torque, there's a pop/backfire sound when i hit the gas hard, it's not accelerating smoothly, etc etc.

I've got some tranny work to do I already know about, but there's a definite engine problem as well.

Would I be better off doing a Hughes kit, or saving money and buy a simple gasket from my autozone?

Might as well go ahead and do the HUghes kit. Im going to get a kegger from a junkyard and take my time modding it and doing the plenum before i swap it out. that way my trucks only down a day

^ +1 im also doing the same thing, getting it from the junkyard then doing the kegger mod and going to have it machined and cleaned out then put the hughes kit on that way when i take the old one off and clean out the topend of the engine i can just bolt the new one on.

But im leaning more toward buying an airgap

Get the plenum gasket from the dealer. Mine was $3 more than the crappy one I bought at Autozone.
