Default a quick question

hey guys, i have a 1997 dodge ram 1500 that i love dearly, one problem, my check engine light comes on at random times. my dad says its either my O2 sensor or my gas cap not being tight enough. it just freaks me out, because i dont know if it's something worse than that or not, feedback would be great, thanks.

If it's really bad, it would stay on for awhile.

How long does it stay on? How does it run?

You should pull the codes on it when you can.

i would take it to a shop, but im broke, and it runs good, just needs new header gaskets and a new belt, other than that it runs great.

Take it to autozone or some chain store that has the OBD II reader and they will read the codes from your truck for free. When they read the code ask for the code number and their interpretation of it then post it here and we can help you from there
