Cool little brother looking for an upgrade...lol

ok i am from the 1st gen dakota side of things but i am looking at a 99 1500 i know about the transfer and tranny problems in the earlierpart of the generation but waz wondering about anything else it will be for my sister she wants a dodge!!! any help is appericated thanks i have access to a lift its got 140000 about anywheres to look for trouble

Plenum gasket's/plates are junk which you're going to wanna look up, along with wild vents and deathflash.

Look em up through the search feature and you'll get ton's of post's about them.

Welcome to the darkside of dodge lol

couldnt find the sticker for the computer "upgrade" and seems to run good but power to wieght is different from my dakota needs some rust repair tho =) its getting the brakes and allientment in the shop now so ill post pics when i can thanks for the help, yakkier!

Just be aware, shes going to need lots of love....LOTS of it.....

-Tranny
-Plenum
-LSD's tend to be weak
-Rear Main Seal
-Timing Cover leaks
-Blend Door problems
-Axle Seals




^These are all typical problems

well we have a convert from the ford religion to the mopars she loves it needs the o2 sensor after the cat works great tho she wants exhaust too dont kno what exactly to put on will just be a muffler not a full system but whats the good sounding not annoyingly loud but there muffler for a 360 ci thanks

Wait a min here. I have a bone to pick over what you are saying is "problem".

Rear main seal's seem to last in our trucks.

Axle seals seem to do pretty good as well.

What is blend door problems? That is a new one to me and I've been around this site for a while and have never noticed that.

And the timing cover leaking? That isnt a real comman thread as well.

Its mostly how you drive. If you beat the ***** off it like I tend to do yea you are going to chew threw more parts than other.

I have been running a tuner since 40k and my plenum still aint blow. I looked at it the other week.

Yea the rear LSD SUCK.

I'm pricing out the costs of a gear swap right now. I just don't have 1600 to lay down in parts than another 675 for install.
