Default What is the stock lift on the 2500's?

I got a 1997 Ram 2500 what is the stock lift on the front and rear? I want to lift it somemore but not sure on how I go about that. For example lets say I have a 4" rear lift and I wanted to go to a 7" lift would I buy a 3" lift kit or a 7" lift kit?

There is no "lift" on the 2500's and 3500's. That is just their ride height. They do tend to ride about 1-2" higher than a stock 1500. If you buy a 5" kit for a 2500 you will get 5".

There is a lift on the 2500 4x4s. It measures out to about 5 inches. There are blocks on the rear. It is pretty easy to spot. That makes an issue of you are looking at lifting. You can't (or shouldn't unless you have a death wish) stack blocks. You could look at a lift with new springs or AAL and keep you factory blocks. Lifting the front wouldn't be as difficult. Either get spacers or new springs. There is a limit on how high you can lift before you have to start looking a new control arms and other parts.

Sungod , you are absolutly correct in what you have said about stacking blocks . I have seen many trucks built up that way many of which had ended up in a rollovers with casualties ! Any time someone questioned me about lifts , I always have them go with a suspension lift , and if they wanted a bit more, I might suggest a 1 or 2 inch body lift , depending on what size suspension lift they went with . Lifting a truck with just a body lift can also be dangerous !

Wrong. A 2500 comes from the factory sitting at where its sitting at... with no lift. So it has factory blocks, and so do the half tons... but that is there factory height, with no lift.

Wrong, not true. And adding a body lift along with a suspension lift surely wouldnt make it any safer.

WRONG! the higher your DODGE sits the less you feel when you run over a HONDA!
