Default Buying my first ram

So, a little back story im 20 years old and have been a pretty big offroad entusiast. My whole life I have driven a modified Jeep Wrangler. I recently sld this and went into the market of buying a truck. After a lot of reading i decided I wanted ram 1500 and i think Im going to go with 2nd generation. I would prefer a manual and it has to have 4x4. I only have 7000 to spend and would liek to come in under because im planning on lifting it 3-4 in. Anyway Im looking for advice on what year to get and what to look for, what prices i should expect and things i should avoid. I want it to be cosmetically in very good condition and I want it to be mechanically sound. Thank you

This is everything you need to look at and consider

-Plenum Gasket
-Deatflash
-Transmission
-Rear LSD's tend to explode sometimes
-IAC, TPS, and cam sensor
-Wildvents
-Timing cover gasket
-check fo cracked heads
-Axle Seals
-Front End
-4x4 Actuator...buy the Posi-Lok from summit

If you are lifting the truck then consider

-gears
-maybe bigger diffs
-Shocks

Im sure theres more im forgetting, but those are some typical problems to looks for

a 2nd Gen RAM= Money......but its worth it IMO

DONT be looking to get 20mpgs...average is around 10 mpgs, unless you do alot of work to it....im gettin 14mpgs city in my 5.9 but im not going to get much better, so dont expect to get great mpgs

The 4.10's is where your MPG's are coming from in the city. I'm getting 8-9 city lifted 3" running 33" and 3.55's. Once I save for the re-gear I hope to be pushing 15. Now on my 30" and 3.55 I get 14 nailing it all day, with the tuner on.

^when i bought it i was getting around 9-10 mpgs, after plenum, new manifold, cleaned injectors, plugs, wires, cap, rotor, coil, and syn oil change, then i got 14 city....yes the 4.10's help since i have 265 10 ply tires. and 4.10's are for 35's...highway i get roughly 17-18, thats no joke.....26 gallon tank, i went to Maine 286 miles, little bit more than a half a tank (all highway, 5 miles of city).......and thats with 201K lol
