Default 97 RAM 1500 4x4 Steering Problem

Changed steering box and a lot of the parts on the steering linkage but still have about two inches of play (wander) in the steering wheel. Had a mechanic check and he said everything was "tight." He said the power steering pump may not be creating enough pressure. Is this possible? Any other suggestions?

Yes it's very well possible, but there is also an adjustment screw on the steering shaft/gear box.

Some one else is going to have to chime in on that option iv never adjusted it before but theres a few guys on here who have.

You won't pick up 2 inches of play in the steering wheel with the adjustment. Your problem is closer to the steering wheel. Check your intermediate shaft for play. You can also grab it and turn it to see if the wheel even turns. Not enough pressure would make steering harder, not sloppy.

I picked up at least an inch and a half by my screw. And there is a diy on here about the steering box check it out. It's a good place to start. https://dodgeforum.com/forum/2nd-gen...djustment.html
