Default Electrical Issues

Hey guys, I have a 99 ram quad cab 5.2 auto 4x4 and the truck worked well upto about a month ago and can't seem to get a answer as to why, the engine rpms flared on my way home from work one day and at the same instant fuel gauge dropped to empty, rpms are unusally high 1100, pull up to a stop sign and the trans will not down shift unless shift manually into neutral and haul down into low, took to a garage and they told me to go to a trans shop, can not pull codes doing the key thing, wondering if anyone have any ideas, still running this truck since it is my every day work truck. thanks for all or any help. Great site and lots of ideas for mods for here, just need to get truck working proper.

You need to put a scan tool on it and see what the computer is doing.

try reseting the PCM and go from there. Disconnect the battery and cut the headlights on to drain the capacitors. then start your diagnosing.

autozone does not have scan tools. They have code readers, very crappy code readers at that.

You need a solus, modus, dominator, gensis, etc Then you can see what the computer is doing or trying to do.
