Default New here,

Hey came across here while trying to find some info on whether or not a double din stereo will fit in my 01 Dodge Ram 1500. And glad i stumbled onto this place. After reading through seems like this place is full of knowledgeable and friendly people who are always willing to help.

here is a pic of the truck as it sits today. It goes into the shop in about an hour for a tire upgrade, going to Definity Dakota Mt 285/75/16, as close as i could get to 33" with out breaking the bank.

Got a few questions for you guys though. I am looking at exhaust upgrade next, as well as intake. As you all know, a factory Dodge exhaust has a bit of rumble to it already, what I am looking for is something with more of a rumble on start up and acceleration, that would sound nice at idle, yet once i hit 65 on the freeway, i want it to be somewhat quiet, so I dont go tone deaf driving more than an hour. Thanks in advance for all your thoughts, and I will be back on here in a few hours once i get back from the tire shop.

Edit: I have the 5.2L with auto trans, 4x4

Get a leveling kit so that your 33's don't rub. As for the exhaust, I have a flowmaster 40 series, but the key is, mounting the muffler under the bed so that it doesn't resonate under the cab. You can then talk to people while on the highway,.

nice looking truck and welcome to DF, others will recommend what they use but for me i have an AFE stage 2 cold air intake, looks nice, sounds nice, not too effective maybe .5mpg 5hp. and for exhaust there are unlimited possibilites, best bet is to check youtube for what you like, but you can do long or short tube headers, some people have electronic cutouts for open headers or muffler. magnaflow makes a good high flow cat, and personally i have flowmaster super44 muffler with pipes exiting before the passenger rear wheel. but you can do gutted cat, straight pipes, true duals, etc. they all sound good in my opinion. heres some pics and videoso you can get an idea

Default Thanks

Ok back finally from the tire shop, the 33's fit just fine clearance wise, the only issue i had was they rubbed a bit on the inside when the wheel was fully turned, so i just modified my inner wheel walls a bit and all is well. Ill be at the shop again tomorrow for the install of a cat back with a flowmaster exhaust on, ill try to get some videos and pics up when i get my camera working again.

Thanks for all the input guys,

285's will rub at full lock. They used to on my truck before I got spacers. Yours is 4wd so it's rubbing on your lower control arm.
