Brake Controller Help
Spent some time searching, without finding the exact answer so I'll put up a new thread.
my truck came from the dealer with a towing package supposedly. but I decided to put a brake controller on and thought I'd be able to just plug the thing in etc....but I'll be darned if I can find the female connector under the dash. Am I blind or is it not uncommon that they would have outfitted a truck with the factory hitch, transmission cooler, 7 pin light connector, etc. but not the plug for the controller??
It's supposed to be blue I take it and should have 4 wires coming into it, which correspond to the 4 wires that plug into the back of the controller?
I sure can't find it where it's "supposed" to be. anywhere it could be "hiding"??
thanks

Just as a FYI to anyone that checks out this thread for future reference, I figured out my problem.
After more searching with no luck for anything resembling the plug in adapter I traced the wires from the 7 pin connector back by the hitch to the front to try and find them. sure enough, they come up into the engine compartment and join with a bigger bundle of wires and go through the firewall near the steering column.
At this point I'm swearing pretty good because I can't figure out where they go once inside the cab.
I decide to take the lower panel off the dash right under the steering wheel. still can't see anything. I take off a metal plate/bracket that is almost as big as the dash panel. I can FINALLY see up in there better now.
I start poking around with the wires coming through the firewall and find the heavy blue wire etc. now I'm really puzzled...until I discover that the plug in connector is taped right underneath the main bundle of wires in such a way as it is behind a solid bracket and further shielded by other wires/modules up in there. Until I took the lower dash apart-there was no way I could see where it was and it was awkward enough and taped to the main bundle well enough (it was wrapped pretty good and only a couple of inches at most away from the firewall) I couldnt tell by feel alone that it was there.
Oh, and most references I found mention it's usually a blue plastic connector......mine was white.
so maybe this helps someone find their connector if they have the factory tow package but can't find that stupid connector. Would it have killed Dodge to make it a bit easier to locate? All's well that ends well though. At least I didn't run all new wires for it only to THEN find the prewired connector.

We have a 2 horse bumper pull trailer. My daughter shows pretty regularly in the warmer months. The truck always stopped ok with just the truck brakes, but I figured the controller was probably a smart move since the trailer has the brakes...might as well use them and save some wear and tear on the truck brakes not to mention shorter stopping distance in an emergency etc.
took it out this afternoon with the horse in the trailer and works just fine. (of course I really wish I had a 5.9 engine for towing...the 5.2 is a bit lacking in the power dept. for keeping up highway speeds)
It took me about 8x longer to figure out WHERE the connector was than it did to mount and hook up the controller
