Yes, I used to own a 1995 Dakota 4x4 with the 318 (5.2L) V8.

Like Purpl said, no Dakota has the Hemi, unless it was a custom conversion. Its never been offered for the Dakota from the factory.

From the factory, a Dakota either has a V6 (3.7L or 3.9L, IIRC), a 4.7L V8, a 5.2L V8, or a 5.9L V8, depending on model year.

Then I would assume it was the 4.7 v8, because it was a newish model and it said v8 on the side. I've heard the 318 Dakotas are pretty quick. I was thinking about getting one. Is the 318 in the Dakotas the same as the 318 in the Rams? Can I use the same CAI and headers? I'm assuming I can't use the same PCM.

ok im bringing back this old thread. Just went racing again on a dirt track, these are the ones i beat-jeep cherokee, f-150 4.6, a few silverados with 5.3s,also lost to a few 5.3s, one wrangler than i lost to one, every 2nd gen dodge ram v8 i beat, but could not touch the diesels. diesels and those 6.0 or 6.2 chevys are fast also. all in all the ram realy holds its own against other 4x4s!

The F-150 5.4s aren't much either. Must have been a hyped up Wrangler that beat ya, and some decently upped 5.3s.
