Default Need some help with stumble, then no start

I'm having a problem with my truck. I was on the highway a month ago. After about 30 miles, the truck started to stumble going up a hill. I made it up the hill on the shoulder, but only at about 30 mph, sputtering and backfiring all the way while pumping the pedal. Stopped at a rest stop and it ran fine with no load on it. Started on the road again and it did it again, so I pulled into a gas station and topped off the tank with fresh fuel. It ran fine after that for a couple of weeks. Then it did it again a couple of weeks later, so I put more gas in and it fixed it. The next day, I ran about ten miles up the highway, stopped at a store, drove a mile to another store, and when I came out it only went about 500 ft before it died again. After an hour or so, I got it to run enough to get in a parking spot, but had to get it towed to my friend's shop. Ran the codes on his OBDII reader and only misfires came up. He came out, asked me for a hammer, hit the bottom of the gas tank, and it fired right up. He said the fuel pump was bad. So, I replaced the fuel pump, and while I was down I did the spark plug wire re-route from Dodge's TSB. Now it won't start, but it seems like its almost going to start sometimes. I checked the relay and that's ok. It will crank and it starts to stumble to life, but then just goes back to cranking. I've rambled on enough. Any ideas?

What is "spark plug wire re-route from Dodge's TSB"? I would change the button, cap, wires, and plugs. (If you haven't done so.) Could be bad cat too, if it's "sputtering and backfiring all the way".

I noticed the gas gauge wasn't registering anything, so I pulled the pump out again and found the connector was loose on the under side of the pump. Plugged it in, re-installed tank and it started ok. Now it won't idle very well, especially on cornering and stops. Almost wrecked when it died coming around a highway ramp. Also, the gas gauge stopped working after driving for one mile. It runs great with the pedal down, though. Back to the drawing board.
