Default Dash replacement, Need your thoughts...

I have been looking for a better option for replacement than the dealers BS and I would like to actually replace mine considering how much of it is missing. I am not sure if I can piece mine back together well enough like a couple of people have described, and I am in preference of having the stability of the true dash rather than the cover which would seem to be a little too flexible without my old dash at least mostly there to support it. I found an actual full replacement on ebay that looks to be better than original. Please feel free to make suggestions, and I would be interested to know if anyone has actually replaced theirs and how hard of a job it is to do. I can work under a hood, but this under the windshield work is getting at me a little bit, thank you Chrysler for using inferior parts!!!!! It is so much more fun to be an owner when you have blood and sweat on every single part of the truck!

Here is the link for the upper section of the dash that I am looking into, let me know what you think about it

Yes I would go with that one, I went with one from the dealer, made out of the same plastic that is, so it is not supposed to crack again (They say anyways). But for some reason mine crackles and rattles and all sorts of junk when the sun gets it nice and hot in the summer time. If you can, look for a molded rubber dash cap (not a fugly carpet one). to go over it. Cheaper, and looks just as good if installed right. Plus it has a nice padding to it, unlike the hard plastic OEM ones. Replacing the dash isn't too hard, I found it easier to drop the steering column, makes life a little easier. All in all I believe the whole replacement took about 2 hours if I remember correctly.

Remember though that you will have to paint it to match your interior.

As for paint, there's this spray called colorbond, a very good product that comes in OEM colors too. http://bryndana.com is the site to go to.

The one they sell there is a cap. Not the actual dash. That's why it's so cheap. If it were me, I'd go all the way and by the actual dash, not just a cap.

I was thinking about the cap but mine is so far gone, there would not be much left to support it, mainly the point of replacing the actual dah itself. So, I should be able to get it in 3 hours??? That does not sound too challenging.
