Right now i have 265/75/r16 on a 01 dodge 1500 reg cab long box and i'm looking to put a leveling kits in it ( 2.5in) and i can't decide wether to go with 285's instead of 265's? do 265's look ok with a leveling kit. because i can't afford to loose mileage.

im putting on a level kit, and i have 4.10 gears, and i still have 265's. 285's will fill up the wheel wells pretty much. But even when i get the level im still keeping the 265's

But IMHO id stick with 265's if you still want mpg's. and if you have stock gearing, it MIGHT be a bit sluggish with 285's.

I just got some 10 ply 265's, with some pretty nobby tread... it looks good IMO, and remember, the front is only going to look different when you add the level. so it really doesnt matter, but people usually put on the level kit to fit the 285's, because at stock, 285's rub at full turn.

You shouldn't notice a power loss with 285's with stock gears, thats what im running and its got power close to stock.

Lol ya I hear ya, 4.10 gears would be good with 285's but I dont think you start seeing major power loss until you go to a real 33x12.50

I second that one. ^ but 32.8 is close enough.
