Default Idea for limit straps

For those of you that have limit straps, where do you have them attached?

My idea is stainless 1/4" cable with the ends braided into itself and double clamped. I would attach it to the spring buckets top and bottom and have it inside the coil spring to eliminate the chance that it could get caught by the tire in a turn.
Does anyone see a problem with what I'm thinking about doing?
I can get a picture of a piece of rope in there tomorrow if you have trouble picturing what I'm talking about.

Sounds like a good idea but where exactly are you talking about mounting them? I know the spring buckets, but where at on them?

The holes on each end, off to one side of the shock. I'll have it on the front side of the bottom bucket and the back side of the top so it won't push on the spring at full extension. I'll get a picture later today with a rope in place of where the cable will be.
Olyelr mentioned using cable a while back and I'm hoping he'll see this thread because I know he has flexed his quite a bit and I'm wondering if the brake lines will extend enough to pop off. That is the main reason I am thinking about putting limit straps on mine.

Those seem kind of short, how often do you get one front wheel off the ground because of the limited flex?

I'm thinking something like this, there would just be more slack in it with the wire rope depending on how low the axle could go before it needed to be stopped.
I flexed mine out a bit today and now I'm not sure that I would even need limit straps though.

i can't see why you would have a problem with that setup, it would keep your limit cables from snaggin on shyt when your muddin.

olylr used stainless hose clamps on his springs to keep the coils from falling out of the buckets without using the sway bar im debating getting new flex hiem joint end links or keeping the bar off, with the stiffer offroad coils i still notice it , i'll prop drive it like it is till i get new endlinks then put it back on. But i do like the cable idea i have all parts in the garage to fab something like this up. hmmmmmmmmmm

That's why I was thinking about putting it inside the coil spring. when they compress or at normal height then the cable would just be pushed against the side of the spring and with it being 1/4" cable then you wouldn't have to worry about it catching the dust shield on the shock or getting wedged out of the spring.

On the 40ish miles I drove today, the only time I could even tell my sway bar was missing was when I jerked the wheel back and forth at about 20 and when I pulled out of a parking lot with a big drop off onto the street. The 20mph jerk of the wheel made the front end feel like I was doing it in soupy mud or ice.

Sounds like it should work, post some pics when you get them in.

looks like a solid idea. I might do this when I install my 5" next weekend. Anybody know how far the stock brake lines extend before breaking?
