Im rebuilding my 95 1500. im kinda stuck in the mud with a question that no one has really given me a direct answer so here i am. like i said i am rebuilding a 95 ram 1500 with a 318 5.2. now i have a new comp cam and need to know if i need new roller lifters? its been kind of a buget build and new lifters are spendy so do i have to spend the money to get new ones? any help will be greatly appreciated.

have you talked to comp? seems like they would know and would be the easiest way to get an answer

Theoretically no because they are rollers and don't wear in like flat tappets. How many miles were on the motor? Examine them yourself or have a professional look them over if you really want to keep them. The lifters are not that expensive compared to the cam. Summit sells the lifters for about $130 for the set from mopar performance. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/DCC-5249862/ At that price I wouldn't risk them having problems or risk the expensive new cam.
