Default drivers side u-joint

I have a 2000 dodge ram 4x4 5.9 off-road edition. I have a bad u joint on the drivers side front wheel. Is it possible to change it without removing the axle? Any help would be appreciated...Thanks

no, you need to pull the wheel bearing and get the axle out

just beware before you start that you will need an odd size socket to remove your axle nut. I believe it's 1 11/16" if I remember right.
