So in another thread I said I hoped my tranny would make it to at least 150k (at 24k now). Well I cursed myself I think. This sound like tranny rebuild time to yall? Im at a stop sign and give it gas to get driving again start to move forward then my RPM's sky rocket and my MPH go flying too but Im still going prolly bout 5 mph, let off the gas and give it a sec then it gets right and I start rollin. Looking into rebuild kits and new trannys today.

Sounds like you were spinning a tire. The speedo sensor is on the tailshaft of the tranny/tcase so if the speedo shot up with the rpm then the power was making it through the tranny.

what exactly were the RPM's? What's your definition of "sky rocket"? Every once in a blue moon, when I hit the gas, I see the RPM's go up yet I'm not moving. Sure enough, my tires are spinning. Sometimes I forget the power these Ram's have. After all, they are called Dodge Ram's, not Dodge Billy Goats!

Correct me if I am wrong, but, isn't the speedo controlled by the sensor in the rear diff??? I had to replace mine because the ABS light came on and the speedo stopped working. Changed the rear wheel ABS sensor (in the top of the rear diff) and it fixed the problem.

You were doing a burnout, be happy you can actually do one some of us cant even bark the tires lol

Seriously though if the MPH went up then it's not your trans, it was that you lost traction, if the road was wet and sometimes if you pass over those white lines at stop signs you can do a pretty nice burnout right after a good rain, or hell even on a dry road if you've got enough torque.

I wouldnt be alarmed the time you should start worring is when you cant shift period.

Well thats good news yall think its not my tranny, however it wasnt me losing traction or burning out. Dry roads aind no more oressure on the pedal than usualy aplyed when leaving a stop. Ive tried to do burnouts in her but she doesnt have enough getup at the moment, (plenum). RPMs would hit about 3500 - 4500 and mph usually reads 50 - 60.
