01 ram please-anybody?
01 ram with 23k, 5.9L. Check engine light came on and motor started chugging with loss of power. Replaced plugs, wires, cap, double checked everything over and over again but didnt help. Code read bad #3 injector. Replaced it and didnt help. Engine light came on again same symtoms but now code says misfire on #1 cylinder. Checked for spark through #1; good. Local mechanic is giving up on it and Im pretty @!!!!!
Catalytic conv. is good, all sensors check out perfect on OBD. Ran seafoam through gas; no help.
ANYBODY PLEASE

Just a guess, but I wonder if the injector rail may be getting clogged with some grit. In the name of "EPA standards", Chrysler needed to reduce the amount of fuel vapor lines and hoses. This resulted in a single-line fuel delivery system, in place of the older style with a return line back to the tank. The drawback to this is that the silt/grit that gets into the fuel lines gets trapped in the rail if it is too large to go through the injectors.
I've seen this on a few Jeeps and Dakotas with the 5.2/5.9 series engines.
Like I said, just a guess. Hope you find the problem.

did the code read a misfire on the #1 & #3 cylinders? seems suspicious that they're right next to one another. How hard of a miss is it? rate it 1-10... 10 being that your gonna park it until it's fixed, 1 being a minor anoyance... you might want to do a compression check on those two cylinders to see if they are working ok... it's a start...
that's a good point, with the motor running like crap, it has to be engine wide and not tied to 1 or 2 cylinders...
my rule of thumb, if the whole motor runs bad, it has to be something that affects everything on the motor... o2 sensor, cam position sensor, TPS etc... if it's 1 cyinder you should be able to track it down pretty easily.
I once found a miss by driving it around my neighborhood for about 15 minutes until the CE light came on, then went right to that cylinder and found the problem. hope any of this helps...

Think we got it?? Fuel rail not clogged. Plenum ok, clean TB. Bad #1 plug. Sucks because just did all of that. Its good to know as much about the truck I own for future things to check. Thanks again everyone for your knowledge!
