It sounds like you can get your hands on a really good deal for a 440 and you want to use it to your best advantage. Sounds cool, but the good deal that you are finding is going to cost you a lot more than you think and a whole lot of headaches.

If you got some money to burn and you are looking for something exotic under the hood of your truck, do what the previous post said and stroke out your 318.

It would be a lot easier, cheaper, easier on the frame, has the "coolness" factor and will be fun to build. There are a ton of mods that you can do to these magnum engines (hughes engines for example) to get some great power without costing you a lot of money along with sparing you the headaches.

When I was younger I did the same thing, I liked to fabricate different engine combinations, but there was a lot of headaches involved and some projects even got scrapped because of the difficulty level. As an experienced engineer, I can tell you anything can be done to anything.... but it's at a great price even as tempting as the motor and trans may be.. Just something to think about, the money you spend fabricating that 440 or v-10 would go a long way to some wicked performace mods to the engine you got and it would be a lot quicker to piece together...
