Default tranny probs in cruse

first off hello to all im new here my name is chad. I have just bought a 2000 1500 4x4 with 318, auto tranny and 155k on the ticker.

now the issue is while using cruse the slightest incline will cause my truck to shift from OD down to second??? ( will also do it out of cruse sometimes)
also there is one other incline that my truck sees daily and its pretty steep but i will hit the hill at about 70mph ( in and out of cruse) and while holding steady on the gas (peddel to the floor pretty much) about half way up the hill the truck will loose almost all power and decel to about 55mph all the while the rpms are staying the same. as soon as i hit the top off the hill ol sally takes right off???

what could be the issue here??? any help would be great. i have owned many cars and an s10 but never a 1500 and idk what kinda power my butt dyno should feel but im sure its more then what i have

First, Welcome to Dodge Forum! There is surely a lot of information here and I'm sure that you will find a lot of informative posts here.

Second, you are going to need this

Save it and use it!

Third, you may want to post this problem in MonteC's sticky. I too have the same problem and would like to see how this thread turns out.

Thanks

Thats the way most 46res work. Get a sonnax sure cure and a gm solenoid conversion, should help a ton.

i used to have the exact same problem, every little hill it would downshift to try and maintain speed. my temporary solution was to stop using cruise to minimize the downshifting and no that didnt totally stop it. when i had the money i replaced the plenum with the hughes kit and i dont down shift at all anymore it now pulls me right up all the hills in OD
