Default Turn Signal Relay

Finishing up a few items with my Son on his 99 Dodge Ram, 1500 5.9 4X4. The last problem (hopefully) he's pointed out is that after a few seconds the harzard markers and turn signal lights stay on. I assumed it would be a turn signal relay but could not find one. The closest thing I could find is the trailer relay so we replaced it and the 10a turrn signal fuse. There is a blue relay switch in the fuse box on the side of the dash but I couldn't remove it. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

there are the flasher relay in the fuse box in the dash, they are round there is two of them. they just pull straight out. i had been having this problem with my flashers, replaced one, didnt do anything, to change. it worked for about 5min. then the turn signal was just solid. so i replaced the other one and bingo works like a charm

i think one of those flashers is for blinker and the other for hazard.
if they are the same, you might even try just switching them to save a buck.

Thanks BigRed, but I just doubled checked and there are no relays in the dash. Just the one blue one and fuses. The location of the fuse box is on the left side of the dash in between the door and dash panel. Is there another location I'm missing? Dodge/Chrysler used to have two silver relays which I believe you are referring to.

yeah, i had one that is silver and one that was blue (or white, it was plastic) they are basically right on top of each other, to the right of that fuse cluster. the dash did change in 98 so maybe my 97 is different from the 98 but i wouldnt think so. if so does the sticker on the cover not tell you which fuse is which and which relay?

That blue relay should pull straight out. They integrated the flasher and hazard light relay's into a single unit and that's the blue square relay in the dash fuze box. I'm looking through my haynes manual and I'm surprised they didn't put that in there. 94 to 98 models had two separate relays and 99-01 has a single relay.

It was the blue relay. The sticker list all the fuses but it does not have the turn signal/hazard relay marked. I purchased today from the dealer $28, ouch. I had to use a screw driver to pry it loose and a pair of pliers to pull it out.
