motor update...
nope, same injectors. if it runs lean great, I can do the IAC mod and richen it back up... thanks for the heads up though, I'll have to keep an eye on it. the heads I picked are the 1.92's, with 1.7 RR's... I don't think there should be a lean condition, I will know tonight...
LOL, someone already tried to sell me a cam for my setup. Didnt want to go there since I'm in CA and not in a smog friendly area...

plus, I think that bringing the cam timing back to spec with the new chain and the new heads & 1.7 RR's should make me plenty happy with it.

lol screw the envornment!! As long as it goes fast and sounds good right[8D] I totally understand though, seeing as I live in the middle of nowhere though, I can get away with soo much. Just wait till I get the camaro done. It's gonna be a lean mean tire melting machine
lol, you wouldnt say that (environement..) if you lived in one of the worst smog cities in CA... in Elk Grove (Sacramento Area) we get the worst of the worst. all of the crap from the bay area gets blown in and just sits here.
One thing I'm anxious to find out is where my mpg will settle down at... before the taredown it was at around 13mpg. 15 would be awesome but I'm not holding my breath. once it's on the road again, it'll take about 400 miles for the computer to settle down so I wont know milage for a while.

New motor update... fired it up last night and the CE light came on... checked the codes and they were all over the place... in the back of my mind i recall someone saying that a weak battery will do strange things and you'll end up with some funky codes that dont make sense... So I slapped a charger on it and went and ate dinner. came back, fired it up heard the clanking (still) and re-adjusted the rockers again. fired it backup and it was much quieter now but the other side was a little noisy so I'll have to go back and do that side again.
So, I let it heat up, check the water pump return line and it's cold, check the guage and it's not up to temp but it's around 150 deg. I turn the motor off and I hear this hissing, poping, and boiling... WTF! Immediately I know what it is and slide under the truck to have a look and sure enough, water coming out between the head and the block... damn it!
for the record... I used the mopar performance head gaskets, torqued the head down in 2 steps per the service manual, 50 ft lbs the 1st round and 105 ft lbs the 2nd round in the correct sequence. One odd thing I saw was the water passages on the center of the gasket were small and offset to the head and block... not sure if this has anything to do with it but I'm gonna look at the new gaskets today when I spend the estimated $200 bux for all of the gaskets that I'll need to do this job again... yes I am pretty pissed right now.
ugh, that really really sucks man, I'd be on the phone raising holy hell with mopar right now. Even **** happens to the most prepared people though, you just gotta roll with the punches
yup, the little woman was on me to start taring it apart last night (it was still hot) she knows I can get it swapped pretty quickly. but the thing I want to know is why did it fail? that's what's gonna slow me a bit. I dont want to go thru all of it again and have the next one fail too... someone suggested I check the block for warpage. not sure how I'd do that one but we'll see...
I would think to check for warpage, you should be able to take a level, and run it across the surface and than be able to look for imperfections and gaps underneath it. Not sure if thats the correct way, but ive never really checked for warpage either
