Default Towing questions???

I have a 99, dodge ram, quad cab, 2wd, at, 6ft bed, 5.2l and using a 2 in ball mounted to the bumper. I am moving tomorrow and just needed some info. I rented a 5x8 trailer from me-haul and wanted to know, what kind of mileage can I expect 13-15 maybe. What speed is best "I can't drive 55" lol. Is it bad to use OD on the interstate... Oh I am going 800mi from Tucson to Fresno. Thanks in advance.

Don't use O/D when you tow. It is designed for no or very little weight in the bed, and no trailer.

O/D is the hardest "gear" for the transmission/OD unit to do, it has the opportunity to generate the most heat. If you are towing/hauling anything more than a few hundred pounds, turn O/D off. Yes, your gas mileage will suffer, but spending a few extra bucks on gas is a lot better than spending $1000+ for a rebuild on the tranny later.

My two cents. Good luck on the move!
