I had the same thing happen to my 94 and turns out it was the egr valve

Yeah my roomate also told me to check the EGR. How do u replace that.

The chip was a JET Module, but I blamed if for increase in gas consumption so I removed it a couple of weeks back. The problem occure after I removed it.
