Default 4x4 Question

Hi everyone, name is Kyle. I do not currently own a dodge but I am looking at buying one tomorrow and had a question before I did. It is a 96 regular cab, 5.2 auto, 4x4, has some rust (live in ohio) but not that bad but I think its a pretty good deal for only $1100. Anyways the guy says the 4x4 wont engage and sometimes the 4x4 light on the dash with just flash. I know the actuators sometimes go out as I had one go out on a wrangler I had. Any other common issues on these that would cause it to not engage and the light to flash? Thanks! truck has about 140k miles on it

sounds like the CAD unit or a vacuum leak..both minor fixes..

yea my 4x4 didnt engage when i bought mine, and after buying $2.50 worth of new hose, its now fixed and works perfect...

DRIVE IT FIRST...see how the tranny shifts, and check the fluid while running in neutral...if it smells burnt, or looks dirty, id say pass, for thats the milage on where the tranny will need a rebuild, and you're looking at about $1600-$2500 for a good rebuild..

Also the plenum gasket it blown...very easy job, not to costly...
