Default Superchips performance vs Mileage XS

Been running my superchip at 89 octance or performance mode for a while now and just recently put in regular gasoline, and change the setting to mileage XS saver. Seems like my truck runs much better with regular gasoline and the XS setting. Anyone else notice this?

Comments etc...

i have never tried anything but the performance tune. i have been thinking about trying out the tow tune though. i was thinking with my big heavy tires maybe it would work better.

97 octane...where can you buy 97 octane?

also, sucks that you got the 3815 for 250 when hemifever sells the SCT X2 for 275 with 3 tunes.

My cousin runs a super chip in all his dodge trucks and swears by them. For someone who has never used one or seen a good comparison, what could I expect if I got one for my '98 318 manual?

Thats all I run. I think it's the best tune. There is power up to about 50ish.

I like the performance tune, but if you get gas with ethanol in it then there's a good chance that the engine will ping.
I've been running the tow tune for a while now and I'm averaging 12mpg. I got 14.5mpg with the performance tune, but there was a little pinging because I had shell 89 octane and it has ethanol in it.

+1 on ping with ethanol. All we have up here is 10% ethanol year round. I noticed a power difference overall when switching from Performance tune to XS tune.

I personally found the mileage XS to be lacking. imho, it felt weaker than stock when I tried it. lol it also didn't seem to help with mileage either hahaha. I do notice a difference with the 87 tune vs. stock though so that is where I keep it. The truck will pull hills better in OD than without the tune. I also have messed with the 93 tune for a while, but just can't justify the gain vs. additional gas cost.

Edit, If anything... I love the OD off shifting with the SC. Stock (With my updated pcm - deathflash for sure), the truck will double shift at 35 and is a dog. With the 87 tune, it moves the torqe converter lockup to 52ish and lunges the truck forward when it shifts.

OD on shifting is unchanged from stock vs. tune.
