Default Acceleration + AC = No air

I've noticed recently that when i'm accelerating, usually around 2000-2400 rpms, like i'm passing a truck on th ehighway or going up an incline and press the gas to keep speed up my AC which is blowing cold air, stops blowing any air and stops until i release the gas pedal. Now the opposite is true as well, when i'm going up an incline sometimes and the ac or heater isn't on, i feel hot air coming through the vents.

Do i have a problem or do i need to turn a **** or switch or something?

You most likely have a vacuum leak somewhere in the system. Usually what actually happens is that the air switches from the dash forward vents to the defrost when you get on the gas, or go up a hill (but it usually feels like the air stops blowing as you described). The system is designed so that if not enough vacuum is present, the blower will shift to the default blower path, which is the defroster path. This happens in case you lose all vacuum, you would still be able to at least keep your window clear.

When it happened on mine, it was the vaccum line that runs on the front passenger side next to the frame rail by the exhaust (in front of the cat I think). The exhaust burned a tiny hole it the vaccum line. It cost about $30 and about 20 minutes to fix it myself.

Good luck.

I had the same problem on my, 97. Check the vaccum lines under the battery tray at the cruise control servo.
