Default after testing...

Well the battery, alternator and starter all tested good. I cleaned the battery cables and terminals, starter cable, and alternator wires with baking soda and water, sanded them up a little, coated all of them with dielectric grease and reinstalled them. After everything was all back in it fired up like it was brand new.

Upon firing up I burnt the belt in half with it riding accross the air condioning compressor pulley that finally siezed. Not my day I guess. So to buy myself some time I had to order a new belt ( W/O Air ) and I worked too long today to make it to pick it up in time. So tomorrow A.M. I will be picking it up and we'll see if I just had a bad ground or connection. Very puzzling though. I was hoping with the testing it would have given me something more concrete.

Thanks to all who replied, I'll give an update tomorrow when I get home. I still may buy a battery this weekend, It almost looks original to me. There is no brand name marking on it anywhere like a replacement from a local parts store. Crazy!

Give it some time and let the PCM relearn the settings for the sensors. After a few starts and runs the IAC should reset and the prob should go away on its own.

Thumbs up Give it some time

Ah yes you are correct. It didnt take long for it to get back to the old truck I know. The idle returned to normal after warming up a bit. And idled fine when I restarted to go home.

Though on the return trip from my jobsite (about 15 miles) I was reminded of another problem I had not seen in some time. The idle rose to around 1000rpm with my foot on the brake and about 1300-1400 while in park. As i found before, a little time and it will return to about 600-700 and will stay normal for a while.

As usual I dont know what to think, but I do appreciate all of your input.

Thanks again-

as for the idle, would the throttle position sensor cause this? wouldnt be a bad idea to clean the sensors on the throttle body if you ask, then see what happens.
