Coolant Leak
Replaced everything. Timing Cover, Water Pump, Upper Hose, Bypass hose, T-stat, heater tube & o-ring. This eliminated a lot of leakge issues. Now, I have spouted a new leak. It's taken me a couple hours but finally spotted a small puddle of coolant above the water pump. I am 100% sure everywhere I installed a gasket is tight.
I need some advice on what to look at. I am suspecting I got a bad water pump. Or maybe my bypass hose is leaking (maybe a clamp not tight enough).
Is there anything on the intake that may be leaking out the front?

I can see the freeze plugs and they look ok. I cleaned them up when I did the Timing Cover Gasket. I gues I'll have to get the AC/gen bracket off again (3rd time) and check that bypass hose. I did put a new bypass hose on. I wonder if maybe the bypass outlet pipe is leaking.
Also put on a new gooseneck outlet when I put the t-stat in.

OK. I just went out and pulled the fan and shroud for a better view. Drivers side freeze plug shows seepage so it's leaking. I had to clean a lot of sludge from that side when I did the Timing Cover. Still have coolant in the top area of the water pump. Will have to pull the accessary bracket for a better look at the bypass hose.
whats the best way to get the freeze plug out?

GAH! CORE PLUGS!
Anyway, use a punch or the like and hammer into it. Then, lever it out. There will be coolant spillage. Have a rag handy to soak up coolant puddling in the jacket. Go in and clean out any gunk or corrosion around the opening and then install the new plug. As I stated earlier, I went with brass on my rebuild. They won't corrode.

Might suggest taking another look at something so minor as the thermostat pipe seal- there was a lot of mineral buildup to scrape out of the mount location.
I use permatex ultra blue to coat all gasketed areas & even around the hose fitttings before putting new hose on. Whenever clamping a sealed area together ( pumps etc) always scrape clean both the mating surfaces & use lacquer thinner or brake cleaner. Once that's dry, I lightly coat both sides of the gasket & the mating surfaces right before assembly. Permatex blue seems to work really well; give it overnight to cure. Hope this helps!
Once in a hurry, (duh) I forgot to retighten the heater return tube hose clamp; the clamp was in the way of the backside Tstat pipe bolt. Currently dealing with an issue of the lower long bolt on the left side of the pump; it & the bolt hole seems to need sealant in order for it not to leak. Pinhole leak on the timing cover behind it, I can guess what that means... argh.

OKay. Replaced the freeze plug. The bypass pipe attached to the water pump did not seem right. I took it out, cleaned it to remove teflon tape and put it pack in using RTV.
I also pulled the radiator, as I had a small leak on the side about half way up. The radiator shop said to buy a new one, they would not repair it. I trust this shop as he has actually repaired 3 or 4 others for me. So, now a new radiator.
Ran Saturday and Sunday no leaks!
This morning, noticed a new leak on side of block - midway on passenger side. Hope it's not a head gasket. Could be another freeze plug. This is really starting to get me po'd.
