Truck Camper Weights?

Truck Camper Weights?
I am having problems with how big a Truck Camper I can carry on my 1996 Dodge Ram 2500 V10 Camper Special. My GVWR is 8800 lbs .My truck with passengers & all fluids filled weighs 6500lbs. Leaving only 2300 lbs for a Camper plus cargo. Most Truck Campers weigh in excess of 2100 lbs.
It does not make sense that you can carry less than 200 lbs of fluids & cargo
in the Camper.
My combined Axle weights of front 4100lbs & rear 6084 lbs indicate I can carry 10184 lbs which would allow me to carry Camper w/ fluids & cargo of 3684 Lbs.
I am sure that most similar 3/4 ton trucks would be over weight if they followed the GVWR of 8800 lbs
Can anybody shed some light on this matter. B)
Thanks, Don

Welcome to the forum!
Dodge never advertized the actual GVWR of the Camper packages in their brochures (checked a few different years) that Im aware of. My 99 2500 4x4 V10 has camper & plow packages from factory (sits on 3500 chassis/rear sway/double leaf packs)
Its rated for 4850lb front 6084 rear for total of 10934lbs.
Seeing you dont have the plow package that total of 10184 sounds about right
