Default Need Help Fast

Hello To All,
I have a 2001 Ram-1500 with a 5.2L. My wife and I are on vacation and the truck is running very bad.
Before we left I replaced the Plenum pan and gasket, new throttle body, cold air intake, 3" exhaust and a 40 series muffler, and purchased a SCT Tuner.
I am pulling a 25' travel trailer and have adequate power but I am only getting 5.2 MPG !!! I even ran out of gas and had to drian the fuel out of my generater to get it going.
I ran a code reader and am getting a code of PO133, Bank 1, Sensor 1, O2 sensor slow responce.
Also,
My tail pipe is black like it is running rich.

I am in Grang Coulee and heading for Missoula on Saturday, any help would be greatly apreciated.

Thats probably your problem right there. Bank 1, sensor 1 (unless you have a California truck) is the "upstream" sensor, the one before the catalytic converter. It is a major player in your air to fuel ratio.

You should be able to procure a replacement from any autoparts store, but I'd recommend O'Reillys, Advance Auto, or NAPA. If you get a Bosch sensor, which is the most popular, make sure you get the unit with the longer wiring harness. Grab a oxygen sensor socket and a socket wrench, maybe a little rust buster (PB Blaster or equivalent), and you're set.

The sensor itself may be around $60-$70. Total may be around $100 or a tad more if you don't have a socket wrench, the oxygen sensor socket, or PB blaster.

Thank you for the information. I just crawled under the truck and was able to un-plug and un-screw the sensor. I was surprised that it came out so easily.
There is a NAPA here in Grand Coulee and will see if they have one in stock in the morning.

Make sure you double check the sensor they give you! My 2001 has a square connector, not round. Dodge started the switch to square over round in late 2000. The computer at the parts store will tell them round connector no matter what.

If they can't find a square part # and you need it, ask for a 2002 forward O2 sensor.

Don't forget the anti-seize!

They usually come pre loaded with antiseize, at least the ones I've puchased have.

I've had the best luck (longevity wise) with NTK sensors.
