Default Crank sensor

I just put a trans in my girlfriends 98 and did not realize what that sensor was on the back of the motor, its running not so good now and was wondering if I should of removed the sensor before swapping trans and could I have damaged it. I am going to check for codes and it could have bad gas from sitting but how sensitive are those sensors to being banged on during a trans installation.

sensor is very easy to damage, but typically, if you do damage it the vehicle won't even crank.

Probably some bad gas from sitting or the gas she put in after the trans installation is questionable, she got it from a station I got bad gas from so I will get some fuel treatment and see what happens.

Put some sea foam in the gas tank and see if that fixes it.
