Default truck update...

Finally got to put a few miles on my truck last night. I changed the oil & filter, put in good coolant and put it all back together and took it for a spin. Runs pretty good, my first impression is that the torque curve flattend out. but it's way to early to give a definate impression since it still has to re-learn again. I drove it in to work today but the traffic kept me in check[sm=boohoo.gif] which is good since it's recommended that i put 50 miles on it before opening it up because of the roller rockers needing to break in. In a few hundered miles I'll be changing the oil again and re-adjusting the rockers to quiet a couple of them down.

anyway, that's where it's at...

mines in the 300~400 mile range [sm=boohoo.gif]... I've had it re-set so many times, I know how long it takes.

oh yeah, another thing... I don't have my hypertech program installed and the motor feels as strong as it did with it in there on it's best day. I still have an estimated 11 hp & 15 ft lbs tq to add to it. I just looked at the updated Hypertech website and they have the dyno sheet for my programmer and it has the whole spread sheet on it (sortof). the added torque is across the rpm range that I need... kewl. peak horsepower is right there around the 3500 rpm mark... even kewler...

I think however the hp numbers are a little under rated... it's hard to feel 11 hp in my truck because it's so heavy. when I install it, I can definatly feel it across the rpm range... I'm wondering if the pcm needs to re-learn after the install...? anyone know?

Hey Steve,

Where did you get your 1.7s and how much $ were they?

I guess the HypertechIII is the best choice for me to get because I can correct my speedometer with it.......35s and 4:56 gears....waaay outa whack!

Any problems with that unit?

yeah, for some reason I cannot adjust my tire size. I'm not sure why and I also sent my unit back to hypertech for them to check out and once they were done with it, nothing changed...
