Exclamation 95 motor into a 97 EGR ???

So i just "finished" my motor swap, putting a 95 5.9 in my 97 5.9 and I need to know a little more about the egr valve and tube. My cousin who cut the tube mentioned just plugging the tube and getting rid of he egr valve because its not needed in a 97. He also said thats why my check engine light is on. Can you guys tell me anything about the egr and whats going on here?

First off read what the code is, since its a 97 you have OBDII which means that any autoparts chain will read the codes for free have them right down the code number and what there interpretation is then repost on here, it might be another sensor thats different between the years
