AC comes on when transmission is under load
Yeah that's right. My ac will come on even if all the dials are in the off position. This only happens when going up steep grades and while the transmission is under a load. Second symptom, under the same circumstances, the air (vent only) will go from the dash to the wind shield defroster, again only when the transmission is under a load. When I return the truck to a level position and normal RPM's it reverses back to the dash vents. I have an inexpensive OBD2 reader and there was not one out of place code. Other than that, the truck runs fine, the tranny does hard shift a bit from the column while switching gears when stopped, but again other than that runs great.
1.) Does any one know how to trouble shoot this?
2.) Is this a common or new problem?
3.) Where would I start?
Model: 1997 Dodge ram 1500 4x4 5.6 liter v8, I think it's a "Y" code on the vin.
Any and all information would be grateful.
Thanks
Joshua
