Engine Quest I have heard of them through IMCA
How can they check for stock stroke?

I am not looking to cheat, but looking for the grey areas where i can get away with things to help me get faster. I know I can not just throw the engine in there as it is and expect to run out front. I know I can drive with stock stuff and sort of make it work but I have been dying for a win(have never got one).

I edited, please reread post.

You'll know it as soon as you bump the key if you put a 408 in there, LOL.

And they have a tool that plugs into the spark plug hole similar to a compression tester that measures the Cubic Centimeter displacement.

Well, you wouldn't want to use a new one that's for sure. They are not easy to get the computers off of while keeping them running right.

The older ones probably have older designs that negate the rules. Not to mention the fact that the man is limited to 360ci and there was no old school hemi that small. I want to say that the 392 hemi was the smallest produced in the old design.

To OP... The only thing I can think of that the others have not mentioned is probably illegal in itself, but I can try... There is a company out there... For the life of me I can't remember their names at the moment. They produce both EFI and ECarb setups that will be custom tuned by a hand held computer. They are not cheap by any means. IIRC, around $2,200 will get you their basic kit. If that's not illegal, then I would say you might want to give that a good hard look.

I believe it has to be a push rod engine. The newer Hemi's are over head cam.

The smallest old hemi was 241 CID in Dodges.
The new hemi is NOT overhead cam, it is a pushrod design.
The first big hemi was 331 CID then went to 354 and on to 392.

You are correct, got the 5.7 hemi confused with the 4.7l.
