97 stalls when I stop
I have a 97 Ram 1500. Today I picked my truck up from the body shop and I noticed it was hesitating when I was hitting the gas. I figured it was from not being driven alot in the last month or so, so I pumped the gas a few times only to come up on a red light. At the red light my RPM's dropped and my truck stalled, it started back up fine and ran well until the next time I had to stop, again the RPM's went down and stalled. This happened the whole way home.
If I replace the fuel filter can I do this without dropping the tank? I really dont have anything to check fuel pressure with, so I would like to try the filter, and then if that dont work the fuel pump. Or might it be something else?
Thanks in advance,
Rick

I see your message is kind of old but my 97 5.9 had the same problem. I went through the unfortunate event of changing fuel pump to find out the coil was bad. Turns out this is a common problem on these trucks and it could also happen while just cruising down the road. Hope this helps, new to this forum, but I am only owner for my ram, been through alot with it (111,000 mi)
