Default air filter removal ???

Ok, so I replaced my stock airfilter with a drop in K&N ( will upgrade to an intake kit in a few weeks) anyway, I had a hell of a time getting the top of the air box off ( yes I loosened the screw) the problem was that for some reason the base where it seals around the throtle body was siliconed on. As I had no silicon handy, and I have never seen such a thing before I just left it. Now I can hear a very slight leak.

The manual says nothing about a gasket or silicon. Is there suppose to be a gasket ? I see that the clamp is designed to go both under and around the throtle body, is this clamp a non re-usable pressure fit type of clamp ?

Am I making sense ? (it's been a VERY long few days)

Thanks,

Oh ya, the drop in filter did give me about a 2 mpg increase

Yes there is supposed to be a gasket in there and the clamp is re-usable. Any auto parts store should have the gasket cheap. [sm=happy046.gif]

Hmmm Id take a 2mpg increase. Then Id get 15. lol

I ordered the k&N cold air intake a few days ago from ebay. was like 100 bucks cheaper then all the mags. I hope the new intake has a seal. Living overseas means anytime my american car breaks or im missing something ... I have to wait for the mail to come a week later to hunt down a part and pay twice what its worth.

Oh well

I LOVE my new truck, it is a 96 ram 2500, xtra cab, fully loaded. I hate the gas mileage but love being able to haul stuff for a change. We just bought a camper for it too, so much better then my import camerette.
